McHozers in 2009

Alright so I promised an update on all the projects McHozers has planned for the New Year, so here we go.

The follow up to Celtic Shaman is on the way and it’s called “Fox Hunt: Tales of Gratuitous team-ups” and as the title suggests it’s a team up. This full length issue features Mannix and Dru once again attempting to rid a small town of a magical nuisance. This time along for the ride is Sean Koury’s “Bounty Hunter” and “Rabid” by Scott Claringbold and Marc Olivent. It’s shaping up to be a really fun story that I think fans of the characters will really like. Pencils will be done by Daniel Wong with Inks by Brian McKay.

Next is our horror title “Dead men and Poodle skirts” this book will feature the short story “Dead Menace” by Chris McQuaid and Brian Typhair. The book will also present the writing debut of Alain Lapierre who is working with Brian McKay on a short. Plus there will be a bonus preview of the upcoming book “Ripper” by McQuaid and McKay.

And finally, the third book that we are working on is “McHozer’s Presents.” McQuaid and McKay team up again on the lead story “Chase Stone: Small Claims Bounty Hunter” followed by two special bonus previews. “Xul” The Gabriel Pope Diaries” By Chris McQuaid and Jett Amago and “Grim Origins” by McQuaid and Peter McGrath with cover art by Kirk Harris.

2009 also looks to be a busy year for conventions for McHozers as we plan to attend as many as possible, such as the Fan Expo, the Toronto Comic Arts Festival and basically anyone else who will have us.

There are a few other pokers in the fire at the moment, but for now I’ll keep them a secret (we have to maintain some mystery.) We’re hoping that 2009 is going to be a good year for McHozers and we’re glad that you guys are along for the ride.

24 hour comic day

Well I rolled up my sleeves and tucked into the old art boards for 24 hours straight and came up with "Hippie and the Creature" a comic strip format book that really shows off why I'm not the one who normally does the art on our books.

But I had loads of fun, met some great people and hey, I finished 24 pages in 24 hours. I'm not gonna complain about that.

I'm starting to clean up the images and add some color to them, if you’re interested in checking them out I'll be posting 1 a week for the next 24 weeks. You can view them here

Enjoy (oh and... be kind)

Major updates on the way

Small update for now, some news on our current projects and upcoming appearances.

This weekend I'll be taking part in 24 hour comic book day at Image Collections in Streetsville. Basically I'll have 24 hours to create a 24 page comic book, writing, art, everything. I've never done anything like that before so fingers crossed.

A the moment we have quite a few projects that are in development. The projects include, a preview story for both "XUL: The Gabriel Pope Diaries" and another story "Grim Origins." Other projects that we are doing now include "Case Stone: Small Claims Bounty Hunter" our collection of horror stories "Deadmen and Poodle Skirts" and a follow up to Celtic Shaman.

We are all pretty excited about the future and we look forward to showing off a lot of these new titles once the convention season comes around again.

Here is some concept art from XUL by the talented Jet Amago to give you a taste of what's coming up. Wish me luck with the 24 hour comic!

Walking the same path as his ancestor and with the help of his enchanting spirit guide, he will uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding his grandfather’s death and find out if he has the potential to claim his birthright.

Also included in this issue a free bonus preview of “AGENT.” Mixing espionage and superhero hero genres, Agent is a story of a good guy, gone very very bad.

June updates

It’s been a while since the last update, but that doesn’t mean we’re not working our butts off :)

First and foremost we’d like to extend our congratulations to Derek Douglas and his wife on the birth of their first born, Wyatt. Welcome to the world little guy.

As for the state of current McHozer projects:

Agent - Currently working on the flats and inks with only two pages remaining before we move on to the shading and highlights.

Celtic Shaman - Also working on the colors and inks. 3 pages left to do before I move on to the shading.

XUL: The Gabriel Pope Diaries - First page is done inking, hope to be able to move on to colors soon.

Preview art from all projects will be posted soon.

Update

Got a chance to look at the final pencils for Agent yesterday and I'm very excited. I think the book is going to look great. Brian's a little shy about showing his work in the current stage but once some of the finished inks start coming in I want to put up some preview images.

March update

Sorry it's been a while since the last update. There are some exciting things going on.

Agent - We're now fully into the pencil stage. McK has finished some of the pages and they are ready to be inked. Once that happens I can start on the lettering and coloring.

Celtic Shaman - the book has gone from a 6 page short story to an epic ten pages. As with agent the thumbnail stage is over and we're moving forward into the pencils.

The current plan is to combine both stories into one 'McHozer sampler' that will hopefully be ready by the end of the summer (I've got a lot of long nights ahead of me! - good thing I've got a baby to look after who is more then willing to keep me up)

Also nothing is confirmed yet but McHozer's is planning on getting a table at the Hobbystar Fan Expo in August where we'll be showing off our stuff and doing free sketches.

Speaking of free... Be sure to check out free comic book day the first Saturday in May (I guess that makes it May 3rd this year) McK plans on attending the festivites at Image Collections in Streetsville (link on the side) once again doing sketches and giving those in attendance a sneak preview of Agent.

Updates

Both Agent and Celtic Shaman are moving along nicely. I've seen thumbnails for both, and I think most of us are happy with the way things are turning out.
